Who we are

Border County Foods are a small family concern with one foot planted firmly in farming and the other in food processing, having strong links with the Rare Breed Survival Trust.

What we do

Real Food from Proper Pigs - Old County Original Cumberland Sausage is a unique product made to uncompromising standards - exclusively from rare breed pork.

How

By putting the whole pig (all the meat that is!) to sausage and adding nothing but seasoning. We have tried to re-create a taste of yesterday

Why

Because the only way to get the sausage we wanted, made how and from what we wanted was to make it ourselves - which we did for years before going commercial in Spring 2000.

Where

At Crosby-on Eden in the north east corner of Cumberland and at a newly established processing unit at Kingmoor Park near Rockcliffe.

And now...

By now we hoped to have a comprehensive range of quality rare breed pork products but Foot and Mouth put that back somewhat.

So...we are concentrating exclusively on "the best Cumberland Sausage you've ever tasted" and seeking to expand our supply to hotels and restaurants - but only on a strictly limited basis, because we believe that you will consider exclusivity to be as important as we do.
